Motor Neurone Disease Association Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that attacks the upper and lower motor neurones.
Degeneration of the motor neurones leads to weakness and wasting of muscles, causing increasing loss of mobility in the limbs, and difficulties with speech, swallowing and breathing. There is no cure but money raised will help fund vital research and hope for the future.
The MND Association receives virtually no Government funding and relies on voluntary donations.
The above three charities will benefit from money raised in the UK.
Irish Motor Neurone Disease Research Foundation  The Irish MND research group has been active for 15 years, and has made many contributions to our understanding of Motor Neurone Disease. Motor Neurone Disease (MND) / Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive and incurable neurological disorder that leads to muscle weakness and wasting. Currently there is no known cure.
Ongoing research into MND is the only way that new treatments will be found. The Irish Motor Neurone Disease Research Foundation is a new charity set up in 2007 for the sole purpose of supporting and promoting research into MND.
